The Environmental Report 2025 shows that Edita Prima’s long-term environmental work is delivering results, as the environmental impacts of our operations have once again decreased across several key indicators. The Environmental Report has been published since 2004, making 2025 the 22nd consecutive year of reporting.
We continue our environmental work through four focal areas: ecologically sustainable procurements, minimisation of waste, minimisation of our carbon footprint, and energy efficiency.
Preventing climate change
Climate change is the single greatest threat to sustainable development, and mitigating it requires the systematic reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. In 2025, Edita Prima’s carbon footprint decreased by approximately 17% compared to the previous year. In particular, emissions related to mobility and transport were reduced.
The most significant emission sources were raw materials, transport, purchased services, and district heating, and emission reduction measures targeting these areas will remain at the core of our climate work going forward. In 2025, Edita Prima compensated a total of 1,423 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions by funding the Katingan Peatland project in Indonesia, which focuses on the protection and restoration of tropical peatland areas.
Edita Prima’s Kuninkaantammi production facility has used only electricity generated from renewable energy sources since 2009. The year 2025 marked the seventeenth consecutive year during which the use of electricity did not cause any carbon dioxide emissions. The electricity used is generated by wind power, and its origin is verified in accordance with the Guarantee of Origin certification system.
Record-low waste volumes
Total waste volumes continued to decrease and reached the lowest level recorded during a monitoring period of more than 15 years, both in absolute terms and relative to paper consumption. This development was driven in particular by an increased level of automation in production. The share of recyclable waste remained high, accounting for 84% of total waste, and the volume of hazardous waste decreased clearly compared to the previous year.
Total solvent consumption decreased by 13% compared to the previous year, and the consumption of isopropanol reached the lowest level recorded during a monitoring period of more than 20 years. Water consumption decreased by 5% compared to the previous year.

Certified environmental work continues
Edita Prima has implemented a certified environmental management system in accordance with the ISO 14001 standard and holds the right to use the Nordic Ecolabel (the Swan label). In addition, Edita Prima holds the right to use the Funding Climate Action label, which has been granted by South Pole Group. In addition to its quality and environmental management systems, Edita Prima has implemented a certified ISO 27001 information security management system.
